Tara Gilbert-Ross Face Cafe Glam Bars and Cosmetics

Greetings Divas, my name is Tara Gilbert Ross and I’m the owner of Face Café Glam Bars and Cosmetics. Face Café is full service makeup/ retail salon and 1st generation business consulting company dedicated to making women feel beautiful and powerful. After separating from the military, I had a hard time reconnecting to my femininity. I suffered from depression and anxiety. I would volunteer at the local Veteran Women Shelter and it was there I found my strength to push harder. It is my belief that as nurturers, we do better when we are assisting other heal. Face Café allows for women to build up other women. We Currently have five operating storefronts all owned by military connected women Face Cafe Fayetteville, Face Cafe Raleigh, and Face Cafe Atlanta. Face Cafe Hope Mills, NC, Face Cafe High Point, NC and Face Cafe Charlotte December 2020 all mentored and inspired by myself and governed by God.

The name “Face Café” was created when my grandmother wanted to assist with the first location but stated the only thing she did well was “make coffee” so we incorporated faces and coffee in the name. She was the original greeter and coffee maker and we still offer free coffee with every service. While I know that Makeup does not heal all wounds, it is my belief that every step towards self-healing is a step in the right direction.

Shirley M. Fisher - About the Artist

Born, raised and educated in rural Cumberland County where beauty fueled my passion for designing and creating decorative things from clothes to houses.

During my adult life I had many jobs. Non rewarding or satisfying, until one day I picked up a paint brush and thus my journey began. Painting has brought me peace of mind that I so desperately sought. Painting and creating memories from my childhood are joyous and gives me a feeling of fullness, that I thought was gone forever.

I followed my heart and I thank God for this wonderful blessing. I now have my work on exhibit. I am having art shows, and most of all I am fulfilling my dream. Yes, at this age I am finally working at a job I enjoy.

Elizabeth Nunez - About the Artist

Elizabeth Nunez is a 25 year old artist from Queens, NY. She grew up watching her father’s work in all kinds of media, from painting to printmaking, to graphic design, but did not start creating art herself untill she started college. Elizabeth did not study Art formally at Hunter College in NYC, she instead chose to study Psychology and research. Her father, no longer a presence in her life due to unfortunate circumstances, could not pass on his wealth of artistic knowledge, so she taught herself. Through countless YouTube videos, research and complete experimentation with media, she found her preferred form of expression. Her early paintings include images of The Brooklyn Bridge and city subways, subjects and places she calls home. Since then she was been creating art whenever inspiration strikes, creating for pleasure, taking commissions, and enjoying a hobby which recently turned into a career.
Upon moving to NC last year, she began as an instructor for Wine and Design and hopes to eventually have her own business.

The majority of Elizabeth’s inspiration comes from the concrete jungle and all of the passion and hustle of its people, but when the doors are closed, what do we see? Her work exhibits the psychology of is subjects, the mind when it’s solitary. Water exists as a vehicle for emotions as seen within her work.

Roxanne Rothenberger - About the Artist

Roxanne Rothenberger was born in 1980 and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a girl, she was heavily influenced by the Chicano-Art movement of the early 90’s. Finding constant inspiration in it’s alluring mix of aesthetic value and cultural representation. Her first exposure to traditional drawing and painting techniques came at the hands of the US Army, where she served 8 years in a lesser known MOS of 25M, or Multimedia Illustration. She continued her education with an AOS in Computer Animation but found that the digital art world did not satisfy her need to be a tangible artist. Seeking a more tactile expression, she soon found herself concentrating on painting. In 2016 Roxanne took over as studio manager at Wine & Design, Fayetteville and her painting blossomed into a productive commissioned art business.

Roxanne continues her study of the human form as well as cultural issues in her own, non-commissioned, art. The early influence of painters such as Georgia O’Keefe, Frida Kahlo and Olivia De’Berardinis is seen in Roxanne’s work, which has an underlying sensuality and movement of form.

Roxanne currently teaches oil painting and traditional drawing at Fayetteville Technical Community College and is available for commissioned artwork.

Anitra Carter - About the Artist

Somethings come naturally, while others are taught. The beauty of self gifts and talents. I've experimented with art, since I was old enough to pick up a pencil and paper. When I was in my earlier teens my brother wanted me to compete with him with a drawing. Nervous about how it would turn out, my competitive side overwhelmed me. So guess who won? I did of course! Thanks to my brother, my passion of art became more intense. Its so amazing to see how God gives each one of us gifts, and the only thing He wants in return is the Glory in it. I've never been taught, maybe its a good thing, because my expression of my art comes naturally. Whatever the outcome, that's what I get. There's beauty in everything, so I don't limit my creativity in just one area of art, I try to express it all. I hope one day the world gets to see that, and see what God has put inside of me.

Forever, Anitra
